Leavers 2021! It is that time of the year again when we have to say ‘Goodbye and Good Luck’ to our Nursery Graduates as they move into the Reception Class.

We wish you all the very best as you move onto the next part of your learning journey. Please share first day at school photographs with us.

Clothing – Please can we remind all parents to pack at least one spare set of clothes in their nursery bag. At nursery we do enjoy messy and outdoor play so please be aware that best clothes are not ideal. Optional nursery uniform can be purchased from www.myclothing.com. Just search: Moorlands Day Nursery on the website. Sizes start from 2 years. Nursery uniform is entirely parent’s choice and not compulsory. We ask that parents also include a labelled sun hat and sun cream in nursery bags if necessary. Alternatively, we will provide sun cream at a cost of £1 per child.

Funding towards childcare costs- Do you know what you are eligible for? Working parents may be eligible for Tax Free Childcare and/or 30 hours funded childcare. Eligible 2-year-olds and all 3 and 4-year-olds can claim 15 hours funded childcare. Please contact www.childcarechoices.gov.uk for more information.  If you are eligible for 30 hours funding from September 2021. You will need to have applied and issued nursery with your code by 31st August 2021. You will need to reconfirm your eligibility every 3 months.

Kirsty from our Bumblebee room will be taking part in a charity skydive in October to raise money for KIDZ2GETHER. This is a local charity that support children and families with autism and autistic spectrum disorders. They are a voluntary group, managed by a voluntary committee run by a Project Manager. The team also includes a lively group of outreach workers and support staff. Kirsty would be very grateful for any donations to support this wonderful charity. We will share the gofundme page on our Facebook page and there will be a collection box at nursery for any cash donations. Thanks in advance for your contributions.

COVID-19

We would like to thank all our families for your support throughout the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. This has been a very difficult time for everyone.

A reminder that if you or anyone in your household show any of the following 3 symptoms: a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change to sense of smell and taste. You will require a PCR test. At this stage you do not need to notify potential contacts however, the whole household will need to isolate until the test result gives further instruction. If the PCR test result is positive, the household will continue to isolate, and contacts required to isolate will be notified.

Please note that a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) is a precautionary measure to identify cases when symptoms are not present. If the LFT result is positive or one of the above symptoms are present, a PCR test will need to be completed.

If you, your child or someone in your household has a positive PCR test result during times when nursery is closed, please forward this result to lorraine@ellanday-nurseries.co.uk. Thanks again to all our families for your continued understanding and cooperation.

This is the Government guidance that we must follow, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Summer Term Planning

As always, we have lots of exciting activities planned in our childcare rooms over this next term including holidays, transport, jungle animals and the Olympics! In our Bumblebee Room we are also preparing for primary school transitions.

Here are some ideas of how you can join in with our themes at home:

–  Talk about past events. Look at old photographs. Where did you go? What did you see? How did you get there?

–  Talk about future events. What have you got planned, encourage children to be involved in plans for example, if you are going out for the day, what will we need? Should we pack an apple or a banana?

–  Read a story. Favourites at the moment include: The Maisie Goes… books, Fergus Barnaby Goes on Holiday, Things that go, You Choose, That’s not my Lion, Rumble in the Jungle, Giraffes Can’t Dance, Going to School. Do you have any others?

–  Sing a song. Down by the Station, the Wheels on the Bus, Down in the Jungle Where Nobody Knows, Leo the Lion, This is the way we (practice jumping stretching and jogging on the spot) Do you have any more?

– Out and about. Talk about the different vehicles that you can see. The bus is bigger than the car. The bike is smaller than the car. How many people can sit on/inside. Notice the different colours.
